Isla Mujeres, Mexico
I learned about Sardinia while in Mexico with my partner on an island called Isla Mujeres, or, Island of Women, at a restaurant called “Amante Sardo,” Italian for “Sardinian Lover.” The metaphor got to me, and soon after, I found myself standing at the entrance of the Sardinian Lover, waiving the waiter over and inquiring about its whereabouts, knowing only that it was somewhere in Italy.
